The Institute’s overall Rewards + Recognition Program is represented by three programs that provide individuals and teams with opportunities for special recognition at different times throughout the year: The MIT Excellence Award is administered at the Institute level on an annual basis. The Infinite Mile Awards are administered semi-annually, or annually at the School level. And finally, the Appreciation Awards are administered and awarded “on-the-spot,” at the School and departmental level throughout the year.

The program is designed to provide opportunities for all members of the community to recognize and reward members of MIT’s administrative staff, support staff, service staff, and sponsored research staff. When appropriate a strong case for others will be considered. It also is meant to supplement, rather than replace, existing reward mechanisms, and is separate and distinct from base pay.
